Cindy Ault, 7-12 Special Education teacher
Perryville High School, Perryville, Arkansas
So, what makes Cindy Ault tick? I knew in college I wanted a field that would help someone so I chose teaching. On being a connected educator… We use lots of technology in my room. However, we still do hands-on learning as well. I think it is a blend of both to be successful with students.
On what it’s like teaching children…Working with children is a challenge and joy! We have good days and bad days. My area is special education and so we have many students who struggle with basic concepts in the classroom. My perspective of the world hasn’t changed but I do know that we have many great young people who want to be better citizens in this world.
It’s important to me that my students…learn how to be good citizens and have the tools to succeed in life!
What is one piece of advice you have for teachers who are just now introducing educational technology into their classroom? BE patient! Also, you do not have to use technology in place of good teaching! Blend it!
